Over the past five years, EDF Energy, part of EDF Group – the world's biggest electricity generator, has recognised seven of its best suppliers who have consistently exceeded EDF’s expectations, created outstanding value, or brought new innovations to the company.

Ultra Electronics is a world leading provider of nuclear sensors, instrumentation and controls, helping customers to improve the safety, availability and reliability of new and operational plants. Over the past 60 years, Ultra Electronics has designed, manufactured and installed and retrofitted analogue and digital safety sensors, instrumentation and control systems in nuclear reactors of all types. Worldwide, its sensors and systems are installed in over 200 nuclear reactors.

“EDF Energy has recognised suppliers that are world class performers in the industry,” said Jerry Haller, EDF Energy Generation Programmes Director. “The companies we acknowledge in these awards have not only delivered innovation but have delivered the excellent performance demanded of the energy industry.”

Winning suppliers were chosen by a committee within the organisation and selected based on wide range of criteria including innovation, safety and operational performance.

Rakesh Sharma, Chief Executive of Ultra, commented:
“We are honoured to have received this award from EDF Energy, which demonstrates our ability to work in partnership with our customers, solving difficult challenges, using disruptive innovation.”
